The Republic of Bacon can sometimes be seen as a loose collection of ne’er-do-wells. We can barely agreeing on most anything except that bacon is a great condiment, bacon is and always shall be delicious, and that the best way to make bacon is to bake it. But we do have political leanings, as well. For starters, I think we can all agree that we want to ensure that everyone can eat bacon safely inside their own homes. This is an important right, and in all of this hubbub about jobs and such, I think we are losing sight of our fundamental basic rights as citizens of the Republic of Bacon. That’s why I’m pleased to introduce you to today (after the jump), a group that will fight for those rights: the Bacon Party of Canada.

Baconistas, Unite!

We first heard about the Bacon Party of Canada a few weeks ago. Back then, it seemed to be a mysterious group that had little more than a Twitter account and a logo. But that was during the election, and this bacon party was listing off some bacon-tastic ideas about what Canada needed from its possible leaders (hint: it needs more bacon). In a moment of passion, we threw our political allegiance into their camp, even though they did not promise to promote the Republic of Bacon nationalism movement in parliament.

The President of the Republic of Bacon had this to say about the Bacon Party of Canada:

“They [Bacon Party of Canada] are an ambitious group, they are attacking the powers that be in this great nation. What the Bacon Party of Canada needs is more support from other bacon lovers from across this vast nation. As we previously stated our support for this noble cause. We continue to support the Bacon Part of Canada.”

The President of the Republic of Bacon was later found eating Maple Leaf Bacon Reduced Salt Bacon in one of Chef Robs Best Bacon Recipes.

The Bacon Party Keeps Sizzling

With the election of the non-bacon-centric Conservative Party to a majority in Parliament, we thought that they might have collapsed into bickering and blaming. But we were wrong! The party continues, and now even has a website: the Bacon Party. It’s still early days for them, but they are apparently carrying on the fight.

“The Bacon Party has made bacon a central focus of their election effort”

they say

“and are questioning whether a re-elected Conservative government would have enough money to pay for increases in bacon supply in the years ahead.”

A very good question indeed!

However, it should be noted that they do not add up completely and assessment of the facts. They quoted Mr Rae, the Liberal leader as saying,

“Mr. Harper is a right-wing guy, and right-wing guys don’t believe in the Canadian bacon. They never have and they never will.”

Although I would hope that our political leaders would have such impassioned words about bacon, I haven’t seen this quote from anyone except the Bacon Party! Makes you go hrmmmm…

Peace, Order and Good Bacon

Nevertheless, with such a clearly noble and passionate group of people on our side, I’m sure we can unite, and with a little of hard work, create a bacontopia in our country that would be a beacon for all of the countries in the world that struggle under the yoke of bacon-withholding tyrants. Now is the time to stand up for our rights, and to declare ourselves on the side of bacon. But if you don’t, you can’t complain when those bacon rights are taken away!
